When you visit a hospital in Thailand, it is very common for your Blood Pressure to be taken before you are seen by the doctor. Sometimes it can be higher than usual. This can be due to such things as faulty equipment, a long fast walk from the hospital car park, pain anxiety or even drinking coffee before a test. Whatever happens, do not allow the doctor to write “Hypertension” on your hospital records as this will stay with you for life and can affect the amount you pay in insurance or even mean you will not be covered for all related illnesses.

Give the above examples as a reason. Alternatively, ask the doctor to do a second or third test in 20 – 30 minutes so you can prove what you are saying is correct. This can save you a lot of ‘pain’ in the future.
